Audra Petraškienė from Lithuania regularly drives her car along a river. It’s actually a relaxing view on the way home after a long day at work.
On one trip, however, she made a horrifying discovery, which she reported in detail to „The Dodo“ magazine.
It all started when she saw a wet dog sitting on the bank of the river. Feeling sorry for the shivering creature, she stopped the car and got out.
Six kilograms of scrap metal around her neck

As she approached, she could already see that the hypothermic guy had something hanging around his neck. When she finally reached him, her heart dropped in horror.
There was a metal block hanging around the dog’s neck. Without further ado, she took the dog into her car and drove home with him.

Once there, she was able to look at his collar and see that someone had hung a total of six kilograms of scrap metal around the dog’s neck.
As he was wet and hypothermic, she could only assume that the dog had been deliberately drowned in the river and had had a terrible struggle to survive.
At the vet
After removing the heavy metal object from the collar, she provided the frightened dog with the essentials and warmed him up again.
After a visit to the vet, who was able to determine that there was no other damage or illness, Audra informed the police.

She took care of the dog while the police tracked down the owner of the animal and confronted him with the allegations.
The owner denied the crime and blamed his neighbor.
As the facts of the case could not yet be conclusively clarified, Audra handed the rescued dog over to an animal shelter, which would take care of it from then on and look for a new home for it.
