One morning shortly before six, employees of the Moultrie Colquitt County Humane Society open the box for donations in kind.
This is where kind people can put dog food and other items that the shelter could use.
When the employees see what’s in the box today, they can hardly believe their own eyes.
Over seven hours in the box
At the very back of the box, two small puppies are huddled together.

As a look at the video from the surveillance camera shows, the little dogs were put in at half past ten yesterday.
It is hot and stuffy in the box, and the two little fur noses are lucky to be alive after more than seven hours.
Apparently the owners still had a conscience and didn’t just abandon the puppies somewhere. Nevertheless, it was an irresponsible action.
It would have been so easy to hand over the two dogs during the shelter’s opening hours. Perhaps the owners were ashamed, but that is no excuse.
A little shy, but healthy
„They were a little shy at first, but once they were brought inside and given the right food, they behaved like normal puppies.“

says Dawn Blanton. She coordinates the rescue efforts of the Moultrie Colquitt County Humane Society.
Fortunately, the pups‘ health is good. Unfortunately, that’s not a given with new arrivals at a shelter.

There are no signs of abuse or malnutrition and the fur and skin are also in good condition.
All the two furry friends need now is attention and a few extra doses of love.
And that’s exactly what they get from the caring staff at the shelter.
Dolly and Polly are waiting for a home
All the two little bitches need now is a name and a home. They get names quickly. The fur noses are now called Dolly and Polly.
As both are young and healthy, they have already been put up for adoption.
Let’s hope they find a great forever home with loving people very soon.
