A shocking incident occurred at the Animal Care East veterinary hospital in Winterville, North Carolina.
An eight-week-old kitten was brought there suffering from worrying symptoms. The kitten had chronic nasal discharge.
But no one would have expected the cause of his suffering.
This shocking moment shows how distressed animals can sometimes be and how important veterinary help is.
The kitten’s mysterious symptoms
The poor kitten suffered from chronic nasal discharge, constant sneezing and even a swollen nasal bone.
His owners were desperate and eventually took him to the animal hospital to find out what was wrong.
The doctors were alarmed and knew they had to act quickly to help the little four-legged friend.
The YouTube video on Newsflare ’s channel shows the moment it became clear that the kitten had a huge parasite in its nose.

The incredible discovery
When the kitten was anaesthetised to carry out a detailed examination, the vets discovered something shocking:
A giant cuterebra fly larva had nested in his tiny nostril.
Normally these larvae are about a centimetre long and burrow into the skin, but this one was the biggest they had ever seen – and it was in the kitten’s nose!

Relief after the treatment
Thanks to a successful operation, the fly larva was successfully removed from the kitten’s nose.
It was a scary procedure, but in the end it saved the little kitten’s life.
He was much better after the treatment and his owners were overjoyed that the nasal discharge and sneezing had disappeared.
Finally, the kitten could breathe freely again and enjoy life to the full.
„When a vet says, „This is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen,“ you know it’s absolutely true,“
Grimble comments on the bizarre spectacle.
„I can only imagine how uncomfortable it feels to have something like this inside you. This cat has never felt so relieved in her life. It’s great that you’re helping,“
summarises Skyismify’s emotions about the video.
