„Raven“ – this name is no coincidence. Because the coat of the five-time mum cat is jet black like the plumage of a raven.
She also shares the black birds‘ great devotion to their offspring with their namesakes.
But it wasn’t until a woman gave the cat family a home full of trust, love and cosiness that Raven and her babies really blossomed.
„Never seen so many fleas“
Melissa, founder of the organisation „Tinybut Mighty Kitten Rescue„, can’t help but respond to the plea for help.
Because Raven and her one-week-old babies are truly a pitiful sight.
The mum cat is skin and bones from the gruelling task of suckling and both she and her five babies are suffering from a nasty flea infestation.
„They were just infested with an incredible amount of fleas. In all my six and a half years of working, I’ve never seen so many fleas, especially on such tiny, newborn kittens. They were literally covered in flea dirt“,
melissa reports after taking in the family.
She immediately set to work ridding her new charges of the little pests.
The operation takes a few days, but in the end Raven and her offspring are finally flea-free thanks to the dedicated efforts of Melissa and her lint roller..
Finally arrived
…and Melissa can finally enjoy the sight she wishes for all animals:
The little ones lying snuggled together with their mum, blissfully sucking milk, filling the room with their gentle purring.
„Raven was naturally unsettled by me at first. That’s to be expected, after all she’s a mum and in a strange place.“
says Melissa about the initial period of settling in. But she is an experienced cat carer and makes sure the family has everything they need.
Always available food, soft blankets and a feeling of cosiness eventually win the animals over and they all thrive.
The cuteness of the velvet paws is hard to ignore. They soon come to the attention of a family who adopt two of the kittens (Jasper and Hawk) and Raven.
Scout, Everest and Onyx are still waiting for their „happy ending“, but with so much joy radiating from them, they too are sure to find loving forever homes soon!
