In Lewis County, Kentucky, USA, a car is travelling along a country road. On a chance glance at the side of the road, the driver sees something that makes him brake immediately.
There sits a small puppy tied to a sawn-off tree. The driver immediately informs a nearby animal shelter.
At the shelter
The animal shelter immediately sends a rescue team to take the little dog away.
The photo of the little dog caught the attention of Kim Desroches, who runs the animal rescue organisation Friends of Lewis County Animals.
„“When I saw her photo, I started asking around to see if one of my volunteers could care for her,“
desroches says, adding:
„A shelter isn’t necessarily the ideal place for a puppy because they can catch a lot of diseases. One of our employees stepped up and got her out of there.“
Ladybird
The sweet girl dog, who is about six to seven weeks old at this point, is now being given the beautiful name Ladybird.
No one knows which heartless human simply tied the little fur nose to a tree and then abandoned her.
More importantly, the dog was rescued from this dire situation.
One of 6.3 million
Ladybird can now spend some time recovering with her foster mum. Then she will get a place at the Licking County Humane Society.
From here she will be placed in a loving forever home. She shares this hope with 6.3 million dogs, cats and other pets in the US.
