On a walk through the woods, a hiker comes across an unexpected sight: A small puppy is lying on a dog bed, surrounded by its toys.
He immediately calls an animal welfare organisation for help and then carefully approaches the dog.
What he then sees breaks his heart!
The dog’s finder realises that Hank the puppy is not only surrounded by his old toys.
There is also a bag of dog food – tightly closed. The eight-month-old puppy has no chance of getting to the rescued food.
When the animal rescuers turn up, they are completely surprised at how calmly the puppy is behaving.
Hank surprises everyone with his behaviour
They always have to expect anything and would not have been surprised if he had had a defensive, fearful or even aggressive attitude.
Instead, Hank, as they call the dog, doesn’t budge.
Rosa Fond, the founder ofHumans and Animals United, says:
„From the first moment, he radiated nothing but love. Everyone could see that he was the favourite dog.“
This makes the fact that Hank was abandoned in the forest all the more incomprehensible.
The little puppy has a serious injury
Once they arrive at the veterinary clinic, the reason for Hank’s apathy becomes clear: the little four-legged friend has a broken leg.
The injury was discovered at the clinic two weeks before he was rescued.
When the rescuers arrived, Hank had no strength left to react to the situation in any way. He was in too much pain.
It soon becomes clear that Hank needs an extensive and expensive operation.
Hank gets a second chance
Rosa Fond immediately agrees to take care of the cute four-legged friend.
Her organisation covers the surgery costs and publishes Hank’s sad story on Facebook, where a number of animal lovers get in touch.
They all want to adopt Hank, but Fond says:
„Hank still has a bit of a journey ahead of him before he can be adopted. But for now, he is safe with us and we will make sure he never gets hurt again!“
Little Hank, left to starve in the woods, has truly had a guardian angel with him. Now he will surely get the future he deserves!
