Animal shelters are full of poor treasures waiting to find a home for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, animals that are not perfect often have to wait a very long time.
This is also the case with Shibby. The cat waits two whole years for someone to take him in – but it’s worth it.
Shibby escapes hell
The kind-hearted cat doesn’t have it easy until he is rescued. Along with more than 40 other cats, he lives neglected with his owners.
Hearthside Cats coordinates the rescue of all the cats with five different rescue organisations.
Because they take on the injured and wounded cats themselves, Shibby ends up with them.
The poor cat has a number of medical sites and undergoes eye surgery.
He has plenty of love for his rescuers, which he shows them every time one of them engages with him.
„He’s been through so much and hasn’t lost an ounce of his sweet nature,“
says Ashley Anderson, an employee of Hearthside Cats, about Shibby.
Nobody wants to adopt the cat
While all the animals from the rescue operation are gradually being placed in loving families, Shibby is left behind.
People only see his eyes, which are underdeveloped and smaller than usual due to a medical condition – but the cuddly tiger has so much more to offer.
„He is exceptionally sweet, loves cuddles and play sessions and is not fazed by other animals due to his past in a house with so many cats,“
says Ashley.
The wonderful cat loves to be with people and follows his loved ones around like a shadow.
Shibby finally gets his family
The cat’s perseverance and loving nature finally pay off. Shibby has to wait two long years after his rescue until Julie and Greg find him.
When they come to visit him, he stomps right up to Julie and gives her a kiss on the cheek, as if he knows the couple will give him a home.
„This is the part of the rescue that makes it all worthwhile,“
ashley reveals.
