Factory farming is a problem, whether we are talking about dogs or other animals. The conditions in cages and stables are often appalling.
The Humane Society has now published a case of animal cruelty in a dog breeding centre.
Anonymous tip
After receiving a tip about an illegal breeding centre in a house in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, animal rescuers had to reach the basement to make the gruesome discovery .
Over 130 animals, mainly dogs, were waiting to be freed . These animals were kept in tiny cages in a dark, unventilated and therefore stuffy basement .
Frightened and confused, the animals– 104 dogs, 20 cats and 3 goats – initially shied away from the human rescuers.
BB the poodle lady
BB is the name of one of the dogs, an adorable poodle lady who had to live in one of the small cages .
At the time of her rescue, nobody knew how old the dog was, weighing just 1kg .
One of the first things the vet did was to remove all but three of her teeth. The wretched condition had manifested itself mainly in and around her muzzle.
In addition to the rotten teeth, it was clear that BB had possibly left her cage for breeding purposes , but never to see and feel sun or grass.
New life, second chance
One of the animal rights activists immediately took BB to her heart, even though she didn’t know what to make of the kindness shown to her at first.
Brenda reveals that BB probably wanted loving attention, but didn’t know how to get it and, when she did, how to say thank you.
The look on her face after her release from the cellar spoke volumes when she was finally allowed to experience sunlight and was placed in a meadow.
In Brenda’s house, BB now has the chance of a completely new and still unfamiliar life. However, a lot of progress can already be seen on video and, above all, her physical condition has improved enormously!
