When puppies, or dogs in general, are caught from the street and brought to an animal shelter, this is actually an improvement for their lives, as they are safe and cared for there.
But sitting in a cramped kennel on a hard floor with hardly any attention or activity is not a good life. That’s why an animal shelter should only be a transit centre.
For Cheeky, however, it has unfortunately become a long-term residence and he had to spend his entire childhood there. He still longingly hopes that someone will notice him and adopt him.
This is Cheeky
Cheeky is a beautiful young male dog who is now one year old. He has reached a height of 65 centimetres and a weight of 35 kilograms.
His strikingly handsome tricoloured coat with a black face mask is matched by his charismatic look.
Cheeky seems to know that he is a dream puppy. But he doesn’t understand why nobody wants him.
Although he has been waiting and deprived of affection for so long, he has kept his loving heart.
Cheeky is always friendly to everyone and is very happy when he gets a cuddle or is taken for a walk.
As soon as he sees a person, he wags his tail happily and can’t stop doing so.
He loves and needs to be close to two-legged friends, but he gets on just as well with other dogs.
When cuddling, he prefers people, but both two-legged and four-legged friends are fine for playing and romping.
In appearance, Cheeky could be a guard dog mix. His loyal nature and intelligence speak in favour of this. Whether he also has a protective instinct has not yet been revealed.
This sweet boy has already developed a good level of self-confidence and he also shows signs of obedience.
The ideal home for Cheeky
Cheeky is looking for a cosy home with a warm-hearted family who will include him in their lives and give him plenty of cuddles and great physical and mental activities every day.
He would like to live in a house with a garden that offers enough space to move around and is well fenced in. He would also like his home to be in the countryside.
He has hardly heard of the ABC of dogs at the shelter and is unfamiliar with life in the house, so understanding familiarisation and training are important.
Empathy and patience are crucial in addition to confident, consistent leadership, and only positive reinforcement should be used.
Experience with guard dogs or a willingness to familiarise yourself with their characteristics and needs in advance is a prerequisite.
Will you give Cheeky the home he has been longing for?
By the way, his brother Maroon and his mum Lilly are still waiting for loving families or foster homes.
