A dog is simply left somewhere by its owner – unfortunately an everyday story that also happens countless times a year in Australia.
A dog’s heart breaks the moment he realises that his owner has gone and is not coming back.
Often the dogs don’t even realise that they have been abandoned, as this video shows.
Desperate search on the beach
The sweet brown dog was abandoned on Pretty Beach, a beach in Australia that lives up to its name with its picturesque scenery.
For the dog, however, being there is anything but nice. His owner took him to this place, left and never came back.
But he doesn’t realise that he has been abandoned. So, day in, day out, he looks out on the beach to see if his beloved two-legged friend will come back and pick him up.
An animal-loving woman called Jessie notices the poor dog and wants to help him.
But he is shy, runs away from her and doesn’t even think about coming with her. After all, he has to wait on the beach for his favourite human.
Jessie spends days and weeks trying to attract the dog. She has to track him down again and again as he runs around and hides.
The young woman posts photos and the story of the dog, which she calls Ocean, on the community’s Facebook page, and soon she has many helpers.
People put out bowls of food and water for Ocean and let Jessie know if they have seen him.
Breathe a sigh of relief
Suddenly he is gone for three weeks and everyone is worried. But a camera installed by Jessie captures his image and leads the young woman to him.
This is the big chance. She whistles and entices him with affectionate words, and she also has chicken with her.
The hungry pelt-nose can’t resist the food. Jessie throws Ocean pieces of chicken as he slowly approaches. Then he eats out of her hand.
And shortly afterwards, he lies down on her lap! The ice is broken, and how. Ocean has taken Jessie to his heart. He willingly comes home with her.
There he is immediately a member of the family and spreads his love to the adults and the children.
All good – just not as expected
Unfortunately, due to the property crisis, the family will soon have to move out of the house and into a two-bedroom flat.
They can’t justify keeping Ocean in a small flat with no garden. He is a big dog and loves to move around.
Fortunately, they find a loving owner for him. Tears flow as they say goodbye, but it’s for Ocean’s own good.
