Desperate and full of grief, they set off in search of her, but to no avail.
Four years pass before the tide turns. One phone call changes everything, and even though Sheba’s owners can hardly believe it at first, the story has a happy ending.
A terrible loss
Stephanie Moore Malmstrom and her husband are on their way to a neighbour’s house. When they return, their beloved dog Sheba has disappeared.
It’s as if their hearts have been ripped out of their chests.
They search for hours for the missing dog until they finally look at the CCTV footage.
There they discover the cruel truth: Sheba has been kidnapped.
Filled with grief and despair, they have no choice but to report Sheba, who is clearly identifiable by her microchip, as stolen.
A long time later, fate takes new paths
Four years later, the family, which has since had an animal and human addition, receives a phone call. Sheba has been identified.
This incredible news does not immediately trigger euphoria. Too great is the fear that it is a fraud, at the expense of the love for the missing animal.
But of course the Moore Malmstroms leave no stone unturned and make contact with the caller.
Apparently Sheba is almost 1000 kilometres away in a place called Borger. Still sceptical, the family asks for photos of Sheba.
All doubts are dispelled when they speak on the phone via FaceTime a day later.
„This is Sheba, you’ve got my dog, you’ve got my baby! I want to get in the car right now and drive off!“

Sheba comes home
Another week passes to sort out the transport and get everything organised, but then the long-awaited moment arrives: Sheba can return to her family.
Stephanie and her husband are afraid that Sheba won’t recognise them, but their worries are unfounded.
When they meet, it is as if only a day has passed. The greeting is warm and full of emotion.
Although Sheba has gotten older and has been moving a little slower lately, she still enjoys spending time with her family, having fun outside and sharing cheese bars with Mason, her new human brother.
