It often takes a lot of luck for an animal to be rescued in time.
If they are left to fend for themselves and there is no human around to help, many sick and injured animals face certain death.
This was the case with a pit bull puppy from Nova Scotia, who was afflicted with mange and would have died without the heroic help of Joey Wagner.
But everything turned out well in the end..
The animal lover acted quickly and prudently
When Joey Wagner discovered the sick puppy, he immediately took him to the vet.
Mange is a skin disease in dogs that should not be underestimated. It is caused by mite infestation and leads to skin changes and severe itching. If left untreated, it can be fatal.
Mr Wagner’s quick action saved the life of the puppy named Mojo!
Mojo recovered
Thanks to the great and loving care of the medical team, the little puppy quickly recovered.
Now the staff were faced with the question of what to do with Mojo.
The team agreed that a normal adoption was out of the question for him.
It was only logical for them to turn to a completely different person and ask them whether they would like to adopt the puppy.
It was quite clear that he had already opened his heart to the dog.
A cheerful welcome
When Joey Wagner returned to the veterinary clinic to see the once-sick puppy, he was greeted with a very special welcome.
Mojo was beside himself with joy that his saviour had actually returned.
You can watch the heartfelt reunion on The Dodo via YouTube.
It was reasonable to assume that Mojo recognised Mr Wagner. And why wouldn’t he?
After all, dogs have a very keen instinct for good and bad people.
They probably have a very special bond with the person who rescues them from an emergency situation.
It was a brilliant decision
Letting Mojo be adopted by his rescuer was a brilliant idea.
Joey Wagner’s heart was already set on the puppy and Mojo would be eternally grateful to his rescuer anyway.
Today Mojo is three years old and doing fantastically well!
The happy young dog now lives in a loving home with his rescuer and his family. He is spoilt and loved.
And that’s perfectly all right, because little Mojo more than deserves it.
