Zoe and her siblings were not born sheltered in a whelping box. Not even somewhere in the countryside or on the pavement.
These would have been comparatively clean and dignified places, at least compared to where they were born.
Their mum lived on the grounds of an institute in Romania and the only sheltered place she found for the birth was under a wooden toilet used by people.
So the puppies were born in the faeces, urine and rubbish of the institute’s staff. Absolutely unbelievable. Fortunately, the little ones were rescued from their filthy existence.
This is Zoe
Zoe is now five months old. The adorable puppy girl is a dream in black with cute white markings on her face, chest and paws.
She is still of medium height at the moment, but will probably grow to around 60 centimetres and retain her agile stature.
Zoe is simply lovely and gentle. She is friendly and open-minded towards people and other dogs, loves to cuddle and shows her zest for life when playing and going for walks.
This bright and inquisitive little dog likes to explore the world and makes friends quickly, but also wants to be held by her humans.
Zoe’s life so far
Zoe and her siblings Abba, Avici, Orlando and Larissa were only saved by the intervention of a courageous animal rights activist.
She and her husband threw food over the fence of the institute grounds every day, which are not accessible to outsiders, because they knew about the neglected dogs living there.
That day, they heard several voices whimpering and whining. They immediately realised that puppies had been born and quickly climbed over the fence to help the babies.
When they discovered the little family of dogs under the toilet amid excrement and rubbish, their worst fears were exceeded.
As soon as the pups were no longer dependent on their mother’s milk, they rescued them, and they continue to work to ensure that their mum can be saved too.
The puppies grew up in the shelter and their lives turned out differently. Larissa has hit the jackpot, she has already found a forever home.
Zoe and Avici are waiting in a foster home in Munich, Abba and Orlando are still at the Romanian animal shelter.
The ideal home for Zoe
Zoe is looking for a loving family who will accept her as a fully-fledged member of the family, give her lots of love and attention and take time to cuddle her, play with her and take her for walks.
Her home should be somewhere where there are good opportunities for walks. She would also like a garden and peace and quiet, both in the neighbourhood and indoors.
Of course, she also wants to learn the ABC of dogs, and the sensitive little mouse wants a lot of empathy, patience and a positively reinforcing style of training.
Will you give Zoe the loving home she deserves?
Perhaps you know someone else who would like to take in Avici, Abba and Orlando.
