Sometimes you can only shake your head at the stories of strays and shelter dogs. One such story is that of Otto.
He was picked up on the street one day and it was discovered that he had a microchip. He was also registered – but Otto had been declared dead a long time ago.
It’s no surprise that his owner didn’t want him back, given this behaviour. As a result, Otto now sits alone in the shelter kennels and suffers greatly.
This is Otto
Otto is eight years old and therefore in his prime. The sweet male dog with the thick, fluffy coat is a big boy: he measures an impressive 70 centimetres at the shoulder.
His appearance clearly shows that he is a guard dog. These breeds are loyal, intelligent, self-confident dogs with a protective instinct in keeping with their original purpose.
Sometimes guard dogs also tend to be thick-skinned, but at the same time they are gentle. They therefore need consistent and at the same time very loving leadership.
Otto is friendly and open-minded towards both people and other dogs.
He is happy to be stroked from time to time, but the attention he receives at the shelter is nowhere near enough to give him the love he needs.
Most of the time, the sweet puppy stands longingly by the kennel gate, waiting to see if someone will finally come to take him out and love him.
The ideal home for Otto
Otto is looking for sensitive people who will accept him as a fully-fledged member of the family and the loyal friend he is.
He wants to belong and feel that he is loved for life.
Cuddles are just as important as walks and activities that not only challenge him physically but also mentally.
Otto would like a home in the countryside, enough space and a well-fenced garden that he can guard. Of course, he would like to live indoors with his humans.
It is not known whether his former owner taught him the ABC of dogs, but he probably did not take good care of him.
His future family should therefore expect him to have a lot to learn. Empathy, patience and only positively reinforcing training are crucial.
Experience with guard dogs is desirable, and his humans should also be stable due to his size.
Can Otto, who has „risen from the dead“, enjoy a wonderful life with you?
