The young poodle mix Sunny had been travelling the streets of Los Angeles for a long time. The homeless four-legged friend was used to fending for himself.
He spent the night outside and made do with the food he found or begged for. But suddenly everything changed.
Sunny makes a decision
One day, Sunny decided to go to a house. He chose a nice detached house and walked purposefully towards it.
The door was locked and no one was outside, so Sunny waited. He went out onto the porch and sat down on the doormat.
The occupants of the house were astonished when they saw the expectant face of the shaggy dog a little later.
The couple realised that it was a stray looking for help. He was a little shy, but calm and friendly.
They brought him water, some food and a cosy blanket. Sunny gratefully accepted everything and gradually began to trust the kind people.
However, the two animal friends didn’t know what to do next, so they called their daughter Jaylene.
Jaylene immediately said that she was off to help. She asked her parents to do everything they could to keep the dog.
A dog’s dream come true

I’ve posted several lost dog reports on PawBoost, lost and found FB groups in the Chino, CA and San Bernardino County area, my mom has posted him on NextDoor, and I reported him to the Inland Valley Humane Society but so far we have not found his owner. It took Jaylene an hour to get to her parents‘ house, but sure enough, Sunny was still there. Jaylene also gained the street dog’s trust.
That evening, Sunny even asked to be taken to the vet. There, Jaylene wanted to check whether the stray had a microchip and was healthy.
She then announced the news to her parents: The poodle mix was healthy, albeit severely emaciated. He did not have a microchip.

Jaylene didn’t even think about it. She knew she wanted to give the street dog a home. She gave him the name Sunny and is caring for him devotedly.
Sunny is overjoyed and grateful that he can live with Jaylene and her dog Luna. His dream of finding a loving home has come true.
Only Sunny himself knows whether he found the house by chance or had a feeling that animal-loving people lived there.
@jylngvr Replying to @kirstey he is also being tested for parasites but those results are pending. I really hope that’s not what is giving him diarrhoea. We love him very much. I’ve learnt how difficult it can be, though-especially with 2 dogs in a flat and when they bark. They set each other off when they do so we have to be careful of noise complaints. Anyway, I hope Sunny’s story inspires others to foster and rescue dogs if they can. But just know, it takes a lot of time, patience, and can be expensive so be sure to do your research. There are so many animals in need, so I encourage you all to adopt don’t shop ❤️ #rescuedog #dogrescue
