Many dogs from animal shelters wait not just months but years for a forever home, even though they are absolutely adorable.
Having to spend time in an animal shelter is the worst thing for such an eternally overlooked furry friend.
Fortunately, Ted is now past this extremely sad phase and lives in a foster home.
This was supposed to be a short stopover – but he continues to wait there and is still overlooked by potential adopters.
Ted is desperately hoping to finally be noticed and be allowed to arrive for good.
This is Ted
Ted is a beautiful light brown male dog who is about 55 centimetres tall and has an athletic, slim build.
He is now three years old and has already gone through puberty. His brown eyes look sad, gentle and attentive in equal measure.
Ted is a sensitive puppy who needs to be close to his carers and lots of cuddles.
At the same time, he has a bright little head and is full of energy, which he loves to live out on long walks and sporting activities.
However, rest is just as important to him. As a counterbalance to his love of exercise, he wants to relax in a cosy place without any hustle and bustle.
This gentle boy loves the outdoors, but city life is too hectic and noisy for him.
Ted is suspicious of strangers and has to think very carefully about whether he thinks they are good.
Once he has thawed out and gained trust, he bonds closely and loyally to his two-legged friends.
He gets on well with other dogs of his own species and living together with the other dog in the foster home also works very well.
The ideal home for Ted
Ted is looking for very sensitive and patient people who know how to build his confidence and give him all the time he needs to settle in.
To make him feel at home, it is important for Ted to have plenty of cuddles and to be able to let off steam during outdoor activities and dog sports, but to find peace and quiet afterwards.
If children are part of the family, they should be older and know how to handle dogs responsibly.
Ted’s adults are expected to have experience in dog ownership and training with positive reinforcement.
In addition, co-operation with a positive dog trainer or an appropriate dog school is required.
Ted wants to overcome his shyness towards people and develop a healthy self-confidence.
To make his familiarisation as easy as possible, a first dog would be helpful, but is not a requirement.
However, it is essential that Ted’s future home is in the countryside, has a garden and that there is a calm atmosphere in and around the house.
His foster parents know how well Ted can settle in if you give him time and trust him. They are full of praise for him.
Will you give Ted the chance to be happy forever?
