Selah is a lovely dog with a difficult fate. She only has one eye, is blind in the other eye and also suffers from tetanus.
After a stay with her human foster mum Kayla Jenkins, she was placed in a family.
She now hopes to have found a loving forever home with the Farleys. But this hope will not be realised.
A head full of hate
There is a dispute in the family between the son Darian and his father. The son believes he is not getting enough attention. He blames Selah for this.
In his hate-filled mind, she is not a being in need of protection who deserves respect and care, but a rival he wants to eliminate.
In a fit of rage, Darian threatens his father and announces that he will kill the dog in revenge.
A brutal act and a miracle
The young man’s outburst of rage is no empty threat.
With almost unimaginable cruelty, he stabs the disabled and defenceless dog more than 50 times, who simply wants a little affection from her humans.
An angel must be watching over this poor creature. The attack, which any dog would have quickly succumbed to, results in massive injuries. But Selah survives.
In hospital
A short time later, the police arrive at the scene. Darian is arrested after a brief confrontation with the officers.
Selah is taken to the University of Tennessee Veterinary Medical Centre.
Here she receives the best possible medical care, including several blood transfusions.
Kayla Jenkins, who looked after the dog before Selah moved in with the Farleys, is informed. Now she is back on hand to help her.
„The first night, her life was hanging by a thread, but she survived and is slowly recovering,“
kayla explains.
A new home
As soon as the dog is able to leave hospital, she is taken to Young Williams Animal Centre, where she is lovingly cared for.
She is also given a new name here: Jules. It takes about three months before Jules can be given a new home.
It is to be hoped that this time the gentle furry friend has found better people.
