Most people who think of Siberia first have images of icy winters and sparsely populated, barren landscapes in their heads.
And they’re right – because temperatures in this vast region can drop to minus 40 to 50 degrees in winter !
Hardly anyone would voluntarily stay outside for long in such temperatures. But this little boy unfortunately had no other choice.
An unbelievable story
In the Russian region of Altai, which is known for its icy winters, a two-year-old boy was simply left on the terrace of the house by his mother.
In temperatures of minus 20 degrees!
The boy was fighting for his life. It was more than unlikely that he would survive the night in one piece – but then the unthinkable happened.
A rescuer on four paws appeared next to him! It was a dog that lived in the hut next to where the boy had been abandoned.
He immediately recognized that the child’s life was in danger – and did the only right thing at that moment..
His body heat saved him
The dog carefully lay over the child to keep him warm. He kept the boy alive for a whole two days with his body heat!
Finally, a neighbor noticed that the dog had curled up strangely on the terrace. So he went to see what was wrong with the four-legged friend.
When he discovered the small child under the dog’s fur, he was shocked at first !
The boy was extremely hypothermic and in a critical state of health.
Rescue at the last second
Miraculously, the boy survived and slowly recovered in the hospital where he was admitted, as reported by the Siberian Times newspaper and the Dailymail.
Since the story went viral, the dog has been hailed as a hero by his fellow villagers in the Loktevsky region.
Fortunately, the mother was sued for this horrific act and now faces both a prison sentence and loss of custody.
She only returned four days after the child was found by neighbors, reports the Siberian Times.
If it hadn’t been for the dog, her son would almost certainly be dead by now.
This story is the best proof that dogs are simply man’s best friend.
And would do anything for them! What an incredible heroic deed that this four-legged friend can be mighty proud of.
