A little adventure in everyday life
On a normal day, two children are on their way home from school when they discover an unusual white spot in the dense bushes at the side of the road.
On closer inspection, it turns out to be a creature, a magnificent white bird, a yellow-crested cockatoo, which is obviously in distress.
Heart pounding, they run home to tell their mother about their find. They quickly call the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Organization and ask for help. Before they know it, they are leading the rescuers back to where the bird was found.
Maria Jane, the president of Wildlife Rescue and Rehab, is deeply moved when she arrives at the site and finds the magnificent bird in its predicament.

A wild bird like this would normally be a little wary of humans. But this bird shows no resistance when Jane approaches it. This confirms the suspicion that something is wrong with it.
The rescue begins
Jane carefully puts a towel over the bird’s head and places it in a rescue basket.
She takes him home for the night and takes him to the vet the next morning.
The vet finds that the bird is malnourished and weak, but otherwise in good condition, as The Dodo reports.
For now, the bird stays with Jane, who agrees to look after it until it is strong enough to be released back into the wild.
Jane hopes the cockatoo will make a full recovery and can be released back into the wild.
In Jane’s loving care, the cockatoo is regaining its strength. It’s easy to imagine how grateful he must be that the two children discovered him that day.
