Some dogs at the shelter have a particularly difficult fate: they are constantly overlooked by visitors and wait year after year for a home.
Their lives pass without joy, without love, and the older they get, the less chance they have of being adopted.
Wurzel can’t really be overlooked, and yet he still has to wait. He hopes so much that someone will finally notice him and fall in love with him.
This is Root
Wurzel is already seven years old and has never had a home in his entire life.
The beautiful male dog is no longer the youngest, but is still fit and sprightly. With his stately height of 75 centimetres at the shoulder, he is an imposing figure.
His pretty fuzzy coat also immediately catches the eye, and one look at his sweet face will melt any heart.
Wurzel’s lovely appearance lives up to its promise: this charming male dog is absolutely friendly, loving, loyal and gentle.
He loves people and shows this through his approachable, open-minded and trusting nature. Wurzel loves to cuddle and enjoys every cuddle he can get.
Wurzel also shows what a kind-hearted friend he is to other dogs.
Despite all his wonderful qualities, all visitors to the shelter have so far walked past him and not noticed his longing looks.
Root’s most fervent wish
This enchanting big puppy wants nothing more than to finally be loved, to be able to cuddle to his heart’s content and to be a loving, loyal companion for his humans.
Due to his age and size, he is hoping for a home where he will have to climb as few stairs as possible.
He also dreams of a quiet home in a more rural area, with a fenced-in garden so that he can go out at will.
Walking on a lead will still be unfamiliar to him at first, as will many other things you need to know as a dog in a human household.
Wurzel would certainly like to please his humans, but to do so he needs patient, understanding support when settling in and positive, reinforcing training.
Given Wurzel’s size, his humans should be stable enough to walk him safely on a lead. Children may need to be older and know how to handle dogs responsibly.
