Violet’s euthanasia is imminent. The dog’s ribs are pushing cruelly through her skin and her frightened look speaks volumes of a traumatic past.
But her fate takes an unexpected turn at the last second. Aleksandra Schiffer from „I Stand With My Pack“ hears about Violet’s case and intervenes immediately.
Violet’s transformation is incredible.
A shock at the vet

The first stop after Violet’s rescue is the vet’s surgery, where the Shar-Pei is weighed. The average weight of this breed is between 18 and 27 kilograms.
It is a shock for everyone present: Violet doesn’t even weigh nine.
A touch test also yields shocking results.
When Aleksandra strokes Violet’s back, she protects herself against the feeling of a human hand on her skin with a kind of cat hump.
„It’s as if she’s never been touched“,
comments Aleksandra with a heavy heart.
Settling in with the foster mom

The sad visit to the practice is followed by the next stop. Violet is allowed to move in with Whitney Cummings, her new foster mom.
Whitney is not lacking in commitment to teach the frightened dog that there are good people in the world.
But Violet is skeptical and looks around warily when she enters her new home for the first time. Are there dangers lurking here again?
Things that are the most normal thing in the world for other dogs and are part of their everyday dog life are like gifts from heaven for Violet, which she first has to learn to accept.
Fortunately, Whitney is an experienced dog mom and has already prepared a fluffy bed with cuddly toys for Violet.
It is heartbreaking to watch the dog with her wobbly, thin legs carefully explore the unfamiliar softness of her sleeping place.
The path to trust

But Violet makes rapid progress. Every week in her temporary home gives her more confidence.
She learns to cuddle with Whitney, jump on the sofa with her and even makes contact with other dogs.
After three weeks, Violet is jumping around the apartment like crazy and taking the initiative to play. What a transformation!
In her third month in foster care, the time has finally come: Violet gets a visit from her forever family.
Nothing more than a memory remains of the shy dog.
