A stray cat is spotted in a residential area.
She has given birth to a litter of kittens and has retreated into the undergrowth.
Now she needs a safe place to raise her kittens. So she approaches local residents and asks for help.
A cat family is on its own
The mother cat managed the birth all by herself and gave birth to the kittens in a makeshift nest.

There they begin to stand timidly on all fours and open their eyes.
By now, the time should have come for them to crawl out of the nest and explore their surroundings.
But when the mother cat runs around looking for a safe place, nobody wants to help her.

Finally, a local resident discovers the cat family and contacts the local animal rescue called Puppy Kitty NY City. He wants the family of seven to be taken to a safe home.
Shortly after, a staff member arrives on the scene and carries the mother cat and her kittens in a carrier to the car.

The mother cat doesn’t have to be asked twice by the rescuer to go into the box. She follows her babies all by herself.
Mom cat Thumbs settles in well
She quickly gets used to the company of humans and appreciates the fact that she has enough to eat and a roof over her head.

Most importantly, she no longer has to worry about her babies!
The rescuers provide her with towels and blankets, but Thumbs prefers to retreat under the TV to nurse her little ones.

As the kittens are extremely hungry, they are given very special names: Rye, Baguette, Pumpernickel, Brioche, Ciabatta and Bun.
All six kittens have developed splendidly

They are now wild and full of mischief. As kittens do, they play and wrestle with each other and are simply fascinated by everything.
At some point, they fall over exhausted and sleep on the couch or on their blankets – until it starts all over again.
In a few weeks, they will be ready to be rehomed. We wish them a loving home with really great people!
