An entire campground in Owensboro, Kentucky, is thrown into turmoil when a stray dog turns up one day. The Shetland Shepard-Dachshund mix seems to be all alone.
A kind soul calls a nearby animal shelter for help, which takes the stray in. When they get there, they realize just how bad the four-legged friend is.
The dog refuses all human contact and sits motionless in the corner for hours, staring at the wall!
Neglected and abandoned

The animal keepers quickly realize that the four-legged friend has been neglected by his family.
Barkly, as they call him, had bloody and infected urine burns on his paws and his teeth were also in a catastrophic condition.

However, he was neutered, which led to the assumption that Barkly’s family could no longer pay medical bills for him due to his age.
As a result, Barkly was probably neglected and eventually abandoned. Barkly had lost all his trust in people and showed no interest in life.
He refused to eat, just stared at the wall and avoided every look and every touch. This dog was severely depressed.
The shelter staff won’t give up

But the staff at the Daviess County Animal Shelter didn’t give up on Barkly. The keepers at the shelter gave him lots of love and attention.
For two weeks they struggled to bring Barkly back to life and finally one day they were able to gain his trust.
From the moment Barkly understood that these people would not harm him, he was a different dog.
He was happy, active and – would you believe it – completely cuddly! Thanks to the efforts of the animal shelter, he was given a new home.
There, Barkly is starting the life he deserved all along!
