This video really gets under your skin!
We see a stray dog, immersed in what at first glance looks like a greasy oil slick.
He is panting desperately with his eyes wide open. He is about to sink into the sticky black of fresh asphalt.
His situation seems hopeless, but the spark of hope in his saucer eyes flickers bravely on.
Sunken in the asphalt
The video on the YouTube channel Newsflare couldn’t be more nerve-wracking.
Accompanied by dramatic music, we have to watch as a dog sinks motionlessly deeper and deeper into the fresh asphalt.
His frantically heaving belly is in stark contrast to the calm black carpet dragging him to his death.
Whether he fell in by himself or someone threw him in there on purpose remains a mystery.
But then the possibility of a rescue appears on the screen. Help arrives in the form of a large shovel excavator.
Rescue maneuvers on a grand scale
As carefully as a giant arm, the excavator lowers its shovel into the half-dried mass and lifts up the dog’s gasping body.
The machine gently transports the dog to the ground, and we see the person behind the action trying to remove the sticky tar with a rag.
More people in rescue vehicles appear on the scene. Armed with rags and gloves, they pull the viscous black threads off the dog’s body.
The rescue seems almost hopeless, but the next images prove us wrong: Trembling more and more, the dog gradually emerges!
Diligent hands continue to free the unfortunate fellow from the gunk. Finally, an incredibly cute face emerges from underneath!
The next footage shows the dog in safety. We see a woman’s hand lovingly stroking his now clean fur.
Although some tarry streaks remain as a drawing, perhaps these will also disappear in the future.
The dog is now in a place where people look after him tenderly. Lucky for the little rascal!
This grateful look should more than reward his rescuers – and viewers can breathe a sigh of relief!
