Dog needs a soft toy to comfort him – his reaction when he gets a real friend is a little bit twitchy;

Most dogs have siblings when they are born, but are separated from them as soon as they move into a family of their own.

Not every dog can cope with this. Some four-legged friends mourn their brothers and sisters and feel lonely, especially when their humans sometimes leave them alone.

That’s how the golden retriever named Molson feels in Hawaii. But his family has an idea to comfort him.

Stuffed dog instead of real fur buddy

Molson is loved and has a good time with his human family, the Deverys. Nevertheless, he misses his dog family.

The Deverys realise this and give him a soft toy to comfort him as soon as he moves in: a deceptively real-looking golden retriever puppy.

Molson reacts as hoped: he falls in love with the stuffed dog and finds in it a substitute for the real fur mate he would so much like to have.

The stuffed dog is given the name Kelsie and becomes Molson’s constant companion.

Molson always carries Kelsie in his muzzle and takes her with him to play, to the food bowl and on walks.

When he is resting, he snuggles up close to his beloved stuffed friend.

A real fur buddy instead of a stuffed dog

And so it goes until Molson has been grown up for some time. He and Kelsie are simply inseparable.

The Deverys realise how important it is for Molson to have a dog as a friend.

Kelsie is a comfort to him, but she can’t romp around with him, lick him and cuddle up to him by herself.

Gradually, the family realises that Molson needs a real fur buddy.

So they plan a surprise for him: they buy a golden retriever puppy that looks a lot like Kelsie and bring the little dog home.

Love at first sight

To make the surprise even bigger, Molson is asked to unwrap his present himself. The puppy is waiting in a ventilated crate with a light blanket over it.

However, the little girl dog is too curious and sticks her head out from under the blanket.

And now comes Molson. As usual, he is carrying Kelsie in his muzzle. But now he does something he has never done before: He simply puts Kelsie down and pays no more attention to her.

He only has eyes for the real puppy. The moment is indescribable. It is love at first sight.

Molson immediately begins to lick his new little sister lovingly and the two give each other tender kisses.

Molson’s dream has finally come true, he is overjoyed and can’t stop wagging his tail.
