Chained up outside in all weathers for three years, a couple driving past became aware of the unfortunate four-legged friend.
The couple drove on and the dog’s fate seemed sealed. But then the miracle happens!

A couple were exploring the area in their car and had no idea that this day would change their lives and another life forever.
They passed a property with a chained dog. Not a soul was to be seen for miles around.
Although they drove on, they couldn’t get the dog’s unexplained fate out of their minds.
They asked at their hotel: Three years earlier, the dog’s owners had died of COVID-19. The son thought the dog was unadoptable for no reason.
Every few days, a gardener put water and food out for the dog. The couple decided to take action.
The dog’s chain was broken with a simple question

(Before y’all come yelling at me about the vet without gloves) I asked her why she doesn’t use gloves and she said she prefers to use her bare hands, she washed and sanitized her hand before starting, after she removed the larvae and after she was done. They simply asked the son and got his „yes“. But no one had expected the dog’s reaction.
As it turned out, she was very scared and didn’t dare leave the kennel. The couple gave her the name Xena.
With a lot of love, calm and patience, they tried to lure Xena into freedom. They didn’t just see the scars, ticks and fleas.
Xena had forgotten how to receive love, warmth and security from people as a matter of course.
The couple’s perseverance was finally rewarded and Xena was soon sitting in the car.
She couldn’t believe her luck at finally being allowed to live normally

Xena’s nervousness was palpable. The dirt of the past three years was gently washed away in the bathtub.
Despite everything she had experienced, her eyes now radiated confidence. She was examined at the vet. She seemed full of gratitude that everything would be better from now on.
Xena was then allowed to run free for the first time on the beach. The moment remains unforgettable for the couple to this day.
Xena was so clumsy, she stumbled over her legs again and again.
At last, the dog was free to decide where she wanted to go. Xena knew that she owed this wonderful world to her two humans.
She would never leave their side again. For the rest of her new life.
