Because the Bradshaw Animal Shelter called her and told her that her dog had ended up with them.
She was totally shocked and overjoyed.
Because she wanted to make this incredible moment a special memory for her family, she decided to make it a huge surprise.

She told all of her 5 children, one of whom Macho had called her best friend, that they would like to volunteer at the Bradshaw Animal Shelter.
None of the family members had the slightest idea what was waiting for them there.
The reactions to the reunion were extremely emotional – everything from open mouths to tears to hyperventilating.
True love never dies
The story of Macho and his family shows that true love never ends. Macho was just as happy to be back with his humans as they were.
Even after two long years, he recognized them as his family.
