There are few things better for a dog in a shelter than being adopted.
No matter how lovingly the staff there look after the dog, there is no substitute for a real family.
When a dog called Pitufo arrives at the shelter, no one expects him to stay there for more than 3,500 days.
No suitable family
Pitufo was rescued back in 2012 by Silvana, co-founder of Hogar Corazón Animal in Moreno, Buenos Aires.
He is already five years old and therefore unfortunately less desirable than a puppy.
Nobody seems to want to adopt him.
What’s more, the small animal shelter has hardly any opportunities to present itself. Social media was also not a big issue at the time.
Every now and then people are interested in Pitufo, but so far there has been no one who meets Silvina’s requirements.
„I’m very strict with the families I place my dogs with,“
says Silvina.
„I treat them like my own children and wouldn’t entrust them to just anyone. I always want the best for them.“
A small miracle happens
After more than ten years, something happened on August 9 that no one had expected.
Pitufo met his new family.
A loving couple called Estefanía and Sebastían are interested in him and want to take him in.
Since everything fits this time, nothing stands in the way.
Pitufo has spent most of his life in an animal shelter and has never lived with a family.
The couple therefore expect their new family member to find it difficult to get used to his new surroundings.
But the family dog surprises everyone.
He settles in immediately and quickly makes friends with his new furry sister, a cat.
After just a short time, everyone feels as if Pitufo has always been part of the family.
After more than 3,500 days at the shelter, Pitufo can now enjoy his life with a loving family.
Silvina misses him, but is overjoyed that he finally has the life he deserves.
