A week before the 4th of July, Independence Day in the USA, a small dog turns up on a street corner in Southern California.
No one has ever seen the puppy there before.
But as familiar as the intersection seems to him, he must associate it with something special.
The dog was probably abandoned
Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy, suspects that he was left on this very corner. Now he’s waiting there for his family – how sad!
Nugget, as she calls the dog, returns to the crossroads day in, day out. He never gives up hope.
When a group of animal-loving people try to rescue him, he runs away. But in the evening he returns to the corner.
What a loyal dog, but his family will not return.
Even when the 4th of July fireworks go off, he runs away, but comes back as soon as the noise is over.
Slowly, Nugget begins to understand that people want to help him
After almost a week in the neighborhood, Nugget is starting to find his way around.
He is even beginning to understand that there are kind helpers around him.
After a few attempts, a cat rescuer friend of Suzette Hall succeeds in gaining the trust of the suspicious dog.
From then on, he keeps turning up at her door. As if he knew he would get help here.
Of course, the animal-loving neighbor gives him something to eat. But Nugget refuses to be lured into the house.
The reason is clear: he has to keep looking for his family on the corner.
She then calls Logan’s Legacy.
They are finally able to capture Nugget
Suzette Hall takes Nugget straight to Camino Pet Hospital for a check-up, where he is certified as being in good health.
He also makes a whole bunch of new friends there.
However, he has not yet found a new family.
„He’s just so perfect“,
enthuses Hall,
„He deserves a great family.“
While Nugget is still waiting for his family, the carers at Camino Pet Hospital are enjoying every minute with the sweet little fellow.
