Dog Walks Himself Home After Owner Was Killed In Hit-And-Run

Hund sieht, wie Frauchen überfahren wird - Seine Reaktion sorgt für bittere Tränen

When dogs lose their owners, it is a real blow for the animals.

It is certainly even worse when the animals also experience the death of their best friend.

This is what happened to Patch, a mixed-breed dog whose reaction to the death of his mistress moved him to tears.

Traumatizing experience for Patch

On March 22, 2023, Patch had to watch as his blind owner was driven to her death. The two were out for a walk in Nashville, Tennessee (USA).

As „WSMV4“ reports, the traumatized dog ran straight home after the experience and waited outside a neighbor’s door.

It seemed as if Patch wanted to get help for his owner. But all help came too late.

The woman, whose vision had been impaired, had been taken to hospital in the meantime, where she was pronounced dead.

The dog, on the other hand, was collected by the police and taken to the Metro Animal Control shelter.

Animal shelter searches for Patch’s family

The staff there are trying to locate the family of the deceased so that they can decide the dog’s fate.

Matthew Peters, a deputy at the shelter, told WSMV 4:

„(If he’s not picked up), we would assess him to figure out what would be best for him. Whether it be adoption or placing him in a rescue group or some other option.“

In fact, there have already been inquiries from shelters that place guide dogs, as it is assumed that Patch is a therapy dog.

But all this is premature, says Peters. The first priority is to find the family of the deceased.

In the hope that they will come up with a solution or, ideally, even take in the four-legged friend themselves.

It’s unbelievable what the little four-legged friend has to go through. You can view the Facebook post from „WSMV 4“ here.
