A video is currently circulating online showing a man collapsing over his dying dog.
He has to have his 14-year-old pit bull put down and at first bravely accompanies him to his death.
He sits next to his beloved four-legged friend, rests his hand on him, kisses him on the forehead and lays his head down next to him.
In the end, however, he collapses over the dog. He cries unrestrainedly and bends over his companion of many years.
Sobs shake him and he almost doesn’t want to let go of his pit bull!

In the interview, vets explain how important it is for the animals that their owners accompany them on this last journey!
Due to the unfamiliar surroundings at the vet, they would already be excited or worried. The presence and closeness of their owners would allow them to fall asleep peacefully.
Even if this moment of farewell is difficult for the human partners to handle, they recommend without exception that you should be there when they have to be put to sleep.
Although we prepare ourselves for this and shorten the suffering caused by the injection, it does not make the final farewell any easier.
Nevertheless, we should keep calm for our beloved dogs or cats and not get carried away by our painful feelings, the vets emphasize.
Agitated sobbing owners can also weigh down the last minutes of our animal pets. They may be distressed that their human is suffering. This would increase their own anxiety.
Let’s say goodbye to our pets with a wistful smile and hold our own! Afterwards , there is still time to collapse in the arms of our human partners and family members and share our pain!
