At first, everything looks like a normal day when the employees of the Yakima Humane Society (YHS) arrive at work at their shelter in the morning.
But then their eyes fall on a cardboard box labelled: „Keep frozen: Contents perishable.“ The staff immediately bring the box inside.
Two clever eyes
Before the box can be opened, a lot of adhesive tape has to be removed.

As soon as it is possible to lift the lid, it is clear that the contents are neither frozen nor perishable.
The contents are in fact a cat and it is looking straight at people with its clever eyes.

Elsa
The velvet paw is a little suspicious or perhaps just disorientated. That wouldn’t be surprising.
She probably spent most of the night in the locked box.
No-one knows who put her in there, and it will probably be impossible to find out. But the most important thing is that the cat is alive and now in good hands.

The reference to the frozen contents has another consequence, as the cat is now called Elsa – a reference to Princess Elsa from the 2013 animated film „Frozen“.
Loving home ahead
An injury to Elsa’s side is discovered during a medical examination, but it is treatable.

The velvet paw is kept in isolation until she has fully recovered and then quickly becomes a staff favourite.
Now Elsa is waiting for an appointment for sterilisation. After that, the search for a loving forever home begins, and she truly deserves it.

You can watch the moment Elsa peeks out of the box for the first time on the Yakima Humane Society Facebook channel.
