The 18-year-old blind dachshund Muneca had to go through a lot in her old age..
She was simply sent to an animal shelter because nobody wanted her anymore. Muneca now had neither her sight nor a human to give her love.
Alone and scared

Muneca was terrified and didn’t really know what was happening to her.
At this point, shelter volunteer Elaine Seamans decided to visit the dog at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center in Los Angeles.
Elaine carefully sat Muneca down and gave her all the attention she was missing so much.

That’s why the dog immediately jumped into the woman’s arms and clung to her as tightly as if to say: „Never let me go!“
An incredibly heart-wrenching moment that was luckily captured by photographer John Hwang, who was nearby!
The photos thrilled the web

The photographer posted the photos on social media.
Within a very short time, they went viral and people all over the world got to know the cute dachshund!
On the one hand, they were worried, but on the other, they showed great interest in Muneca.

Among them was the Frosted Faces Foundation, an animal shelter in Ramona, California.
They take care of older animals who are looking for a home where they can spend the rest of their lives.
When they saw the heartwarming picture of Muneca, they immediately realized that they had to get her out of the shelter!
Muneca became an internet star

The Frosted Faces Foundation staff took the dog to the vet, who examined her.
Fortunately, the dachshund was perfectly healthy apart from her poor eyesight.
Shortly afterwards, Muneca was placed in a loving foster home where she finally received the love and care she needed.
In the meantime, the dog was known all over the Internet, so that the rescue center could not save itself from applications for Muneca.
Everyone wanted to give the four-legged friend a forever home!
The best thing that could have happened to her

The shelter staff now had to choose one person from all the applicants who would soon become Muneca’s future owner.
The decision was finally made in favor of Amy Gann, who immediately hit it off with the dog – the two were one heart and one soul right from the start.
It was then clear that Muneca had found her forever home with this woman.
The old dachshund is now enjoying her last years as a dog and having a great time on long trips to the beach .
What a great turnaround from a once unwanted dog who was eventually loved by thousands of people and now has the best dog life she could have wished for.
