Unbelievable, but it actually happened. The dog called „Lazarus“ had to spend six years alone in his prison, a barn. Without any attention.
Only food was thrown to the animal. Above all, his coat was extremely unkempt and had never seen a razor in his life. It was so bushy and matted that it took animal lovers‘ breath away.
Lazarus was literally living in his prison in his own filth and nobody cared about the poor dog. Affection and human closeness were a foreign concept to him. Daylight was also completely unknown, only the cramped conditions in a small barn.
Dogs are social animals and need a pack to be happy. The owner and his family can also replace the pack.
Rescue came literally at the last minute for Lazarus

Lazarus was neglected for six years and his owner did not look after his four-legged friend in the barn. It was only when the dog’s owner fell ill that a neighbor became aware of the animal. He immediately rescued Lazarus and was himself shocked at the condition of a dog living alone in a barn.
After the first attempts to place the dog, Jessica Kincheloe, a stylist for dogs, took Lazarus in and promptly took care of him. The first step was to trim his coat, the first time in six years. The fur that Lazarus had to carry weighed a whopping 15 kilograms. But fortunately this was shaved off. Although Lazarus was initially rather skeptical about so much attention from humans, the animal was then able to move freely for the first time.
After the extensive shave, Lazarus was finally able to run around, play and walk properly again. This had been almost impossible before. The dog particularly struggled with being close to people. He simply wasn’t used to it due to his years of isolation. But Lazarus quickly found his first bond with people and slowly but surely his new happiness in life could begin.
Never keep dogs in isolation because they literally „die“.
A new life for the troubled dog

After the first medical check and an urgent shave, an animal welfare organization took care of Lazarus. This was the „Big Fluffy Fod Rescue“. This organization is also looking for a new home and responsible owners. The dog is currently in an animal shelter in Virginia, but at least he is being looked after here, has social contact and no longer has to live in isolation in a barn.
It is simply unbearable how some people treat dogs, but fortunately Lazarus was also freed from captivity after six years.
