Coming home to find your home in flames is probably one of the worst experiences imaginable.
It’s even worse when you know that your beloved pet is still in the flames.
Crystal Lamirande has to live through these terrible feelings, but the story does not end without a glimmer of hope.
Everything is on fire
A fire breaks out in a house in Santa Monica, USA. When Crystal arrives home, everything is already in flames.
She tries to save her beloved dog Nalu, a Bichon Frisé/Shih Tzu mix. But she is powerless against the heavy smoke.
She realizes that she has lost everything in the fire. Above all, the fear for her faithful companion makes her heart heavy.
Rescue is imminent

The fire department launches a rescue operation. They find Nalu, but the little dog is already not breathing and no longer has a pulse.
„I found him in the middle of the smoke and heat. I grabbed him and knew immediately that he was dead,“
reports firefighter Andrew Klein.

A race against time begins.
Klein puts an oxygen mask on the puppy in a desperate attempt to bring him back to life after mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
After about 20 heartbreaking minutes, the little four-legged friend regains consciousness. He breathes on his own and slowly begins to move.

At a nearby veterinary clinic, Nalu gets the help he needs after this momentous event.
„Getting him back was undoubtedly a victory for the entire team and the department,“
explains the fire department.

The entire fire was extinguished after 10 minutes and there were no other casualties. The operation was therefore a complete success.
This story shows how important it is to help even the weakest members of our society.
A dog’s life was saved and the fate of Crystal’s owner was made a little more bearable.
