Momma Malone, as the incredible little terrier lady is now called, is truly a special little fur nose. And she hasn’t had it easy in her dog’s life so far.
Through no fault of her own, she ended up in a completely overcrowded animal shelter in rural Kentucky – heavily pregnant and on the verge of giving birth.

An absolute horror scenario, because in the animal shelter, lots of dogs and hardly any space would have meant an enormous sensory overload for the expectant dog mom.
Human rescue is near for the little record-breaking terrier

Fortunately, the vets at the Kentucky Humane Society heard about the little terrier lady and rushed to the shelter to rescue her.
And not a second too soon – because the first puppies were practically already trying to see the light of day. Even though the birth was still a few days away.
But it wasn’t that easy after all. The vets discovered that Momma Malone could only give birth to her puppies by caesarean section.
Vet saves the lives of mom and kids

Momma Malone remained in the care of Dr. Emily Bewley. As excited as the vet was about the impending birth, she was also very worried.
That’s why she took the little terrier home with her and put her entire team on alert.
When she went into labor, she went straight back to the shelter, where Dr. Bewley’s helpers were already waiting.
The procedure took just 20 minutes. And amazed all the specialist staff. Momma Malone did not give birth to the usual five puppies, but almost twice as many, namely nine.
A happy little dog family

There was concern that Momma Malone might be overwhelmed by the number of puppies. But that was not the case.
The little terrier lady is a perfect dog mom and loves all her little fur noses more than anything. The puppies couldn’t be doing better. And they are all looking forward to finding their new homes in the near future.
