Zachary Hackett loves hiking and usually enjoys the peace and quiet and nature on his trails.
This time, however, he hears strange noises behind fallen trees before descending.
Little does he know what a wondrous discovery he is about to make and how it will change the fate of two souls.
A shocking discovery
„I wasn’t on the right path and hurriedly turned back the way I had come because it had gotten dark and the preferred paths off the mountain were impassable due to the weather. Then I heard a low howl“ ,
hackett recalls.
As he searched for the source of the sound, he discovered a trembling, desperate-looking dog behind a tree. He looks completely emaciated.
Hackett approaches slowly and carefully, knowing immediately that he has to help him.
The dog has hardly any strength left and can barely lift its head; the barking has probably sapped the last of its energy.
The rescue begins
Hackett picks up the dog and carries him down the mountain. Once home, he tries to nurse him back to health and keep him hydrated.
During the subsequent examination by the vet, it turns out that his general state of health is stable.
And the animal rights activists who were called to the scene recognized the dog immediately – because Hackett already suspected that the four-legged friend was the long-lost dog Riley.
Happy ending for everyone
The 8-year-old Sheltie Riley has been missing for 5 weeks. He couldn’t find his way home after a snowstorm.
With the help of a search organization, his owner did everything he could to find his beloved dog. Unfortunately without success.
So the news that Riley has been found is all the more gratifying and surprising.
When his master enters the room, you can see the joy in the lanky dog’s face as he can barely move and yet tries to get to his favorite human.
He approaches his dog, takes him in his arms and the touching happy ending is perfect.
