Emu is a street dog who didn’t have a happy start in life. He lives on the streets as a stray and has to get by somehow.
One day he is caught and taken to the vet. There, however, he is not examined but euthanized.
A terrible fate
Emu won’t survive on the street forever, he can’t find enough food and on top of that he suffers from contagious mange.
Unfortunately, it is still common practice to euthanize such animals.
So the poor dog arrives at the vet. As if he knew what was about to happen to him, he collapses and clings to the vet.
He practically begs him for a second chance. Emu doesn’t want to die yet!
The vet is touched by Emu’s desperation
Fortunately, the vet is lenient and decides to save Emu. He takes him to Sidewalk Specials, where volunteers begin to look after him.
The dog is infinitely grateful.
He soon shed his shyness and opened up to his rescuers and the other dogs.
He is an absolutely adorable dog, yet many people consider him „ugly“. This significantly impairs his chances of adoption.
How tragic: a dog fights against all odds to stay alive and then nobody wants him because people don’t like his appearance.
But everything turns out well for Emu
Sidewalk Specials has announced that Emu has found a forever home at their event called „Adoption Day“.
Emu is now called Nutzie and is a well-fed and well-groomed four-legged friend. He is unrecognizable, a completely different dog.
It’s unbelievable what a journey he has been on. First a stray, then on the death list and now a completely normal dog in a lovely home.
What a happy ending. Unfortunately, not all dogs are like this, so it’s important to tell their stories.
