The little dog Jadzia – or Zia, as she is also known – is actually doing well. Her human parents Moksha Badarayan and Chris Alvarado love her more than anything.
But what she lacks is a good dog friend. So Moksha and Chris set off in search of one.
A shoe thief with a bad experience
Six months before the two dog parents started looking for a friend for their Zia, the then nine-week-old puppy Ansel suffered a terrible injury to his neck.
The little guy was living on the street and the injury could easily have meant his end. Fortunately, things turned out differently.

He receives good medical care and Zach Skow from Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue takes him into care. It takes a while for Ansel to recover from his trauma.

But as he develops step by step into a passionate shoe thief and at the same time into a talented sofa jumper, it is clear that Ansel has overcome his terrible experience.
Ansel becomes Phoenix
A few months have now passed and little Ansel is ready to embark on his journey to a forever home.
As luck would have it, Moksha, Chris and Zia are lucky enough to welcome the rascal with the black and white fur into their family.
He now also gets a new name. Moksha decides on „Phoenix“.

Now it’s not exactly love at first sight between Phoenix and Zia. The two fur noses don’t fight, but they keep their distance from each other.
Two souls make each other happy
But it doesn’t take long for the mistrust between the two dogs to melt away like ice cream in the midday sun.

Zia, who was always reserved and introverted, is visibly thawing out. She now enthusiastically shows her new brother around his home and takes him on discovery tours.
Phoenix also quickly sheds his reserve and the two are soon inseparable. They particularly enjoy tearing up toys together.

„I love watching him and Zia play and seeing them having a great time,“
says Moksha about the dream couple with the wet noses.
