A kangaroo that comes into the care of the Pumpkins Patch Kangaroo Sanctuary in Australia is lucky.
Orphaned kangaroo babies find a wonderful new home here. One of them is Rufus – and he doesn’t behave at all like a kangaroo.
Let me in
Every day between 5:30 and 6:00 pm, the same ritual is repeated: Rufus stands at the back door and demands to be let into the house.
He wants to get to his favorite spot on the sofa, which is personally reserved for Rufus, as quickly as possible.
Here, the now grown-up kangaroo watches TV, cuddles with the staff or simply dozes off for a while.

The fact that the humans in the GeoBeats Animals video occasionally put treats in his mouth certainly doesn’t make his stay any more unpleasant.
Rufus makes this clear with a happy grunt.

Lazy bum? No way
But anyone who thinks Rufus is a lazy couch potato and just wants to lie around all day is quite wrong.
The agile marsupial is just as happy to indulge his sporting preferences, for example on the punching bag or with the basketball and of course with high-speed jumping.

He is a kangaroo, after all. And of course there are plenty of other kangaroos in the Pumpkins Patch Kangaroo Sanctuary for him to play with.
Rufus will probably not be released back into the wild.
The sanctuary has no choice here, as there is a legal ban on this in the Australian state of Southern Australia.
But Rufus still has a good life and plenty of space, and where in the wild can you get cuddles on a sofa?
All that’s missing is the beer and the remote control
In the comments, Rufus‘ behavior on the sofa in particular naturally makes viewers grin:
„All he needs is a beer and a remote control and then he’ll be complete“,
writes xxcommentator with amusement. User docproc144 adds:
„Rufus has mastered the ancient art of couch reclining. It’s known by lazy grandfathers and laid-back dads everywhere.“
Watch the chilled kangaroo with a sporty streak for yourself in the video now!
