When two wonderful dog breeds mate with each other, what is the result? Exactly, a wonderful mixed breed!
This is also the case when Labrador and Boxer become parents together. Their cute offspring is called a „Boxador“.
Although this is not a recognized breed, there are still breeders who specialize in Boxador breeding.
External appearance of the Boxador
A mixed breed is always a surprise package, even with targeted breeding. The characteristics of the parents can vary greatly.
However, Labradors and Boxers have a few things in common, so the Boxador’s appearance is to some extent predictable.
Both breeds are medium to large in size and muscular in build.
The Boxador’s shoulder height is usually between 55 and 64 centimetres with a weight of 33 to 36 kilograms.
Like its parents, the Boxador has a strong, athletic build and a short, dense coat.
The face is framed by cute floppy ears and looks like a very sweet mix of Labrador and Boxer. The striking jaw of the Boxer is often inherited.
When it comes to coat colors, there is the whole range that is present in the parents. A Boxador can be black, white, brown, gray, yellow, brindle or two-tone brown and white.
Despite the similarities, each Boxador has its own individual, pretty appearance.
Character of the Boxador
The character of a mixed breed is also not exactly predictable.
However, Boxers and Labradors are known for their wonderful characteristics and, ideally, their offspring will combine the best of both.
Like its parents, the Boxador is a very loyal, people-oriented dog, a really good friend with whom you can go through thick and thin.
He also inherits a high level of intelligence and great athleticism from both parents. He therefore needs a lot of physical exercise and mental activity.
Thanks to his obedient nature and good comprehension skills, the Boxador is easy to train and is also suitable for beginners.
The child-loving mixed breed is also an ideal family dog.
Although Labradors and Boxers were originally bred as hunting dogs, they now only have a moderate hunting instinct. This is why the Boxador is not inclined to hunt.
In addition to lots of love, a full family bond and physical and mental exercise, it is also important for the Boxador to be left alone as little as possible.
He is sad when he is alone because he loves company so much, and he is also bored because he has nothing to do.
The Boxador is therefore a perfect companion for sporty people and active families who have plenty of time to make this wonderful dog happy.
