The unbiased love of animals can work wonders.
This is how the gentle Labrador retriever Himalaya turns out to be an oasis of healing for a boy with Down’s syndrome.
Fortunately, the boy’s mother captured the moving moment on camera.
Shy and withdrawn
The use of animals for various therapeutic purposes is nothing new. Dolphins, donkeys, llamas… the list of successful human-animal relationships is long.
Himalaya also enchants with her considerate and gentle nature.
Normally, five-year-old Hernan from Buenos Aires avoids all contact and is rather shy and withdrawn.
He is uncomfortable with physical interaction. However, his encounter with Himalaya sheds a completely different light on the little boy and his ability to make contact with other beings.

A gentle, playful dance

What happened before?
The video clearly shows what an empathetic animal the Labrador is. He lies patiently on the floor opposite the child and waits for the boy to approach him.
After the child makes a small attempt to approach him, the dog crawls forward very carefully, sniffs, feels and lovingly places his snout on the boy’s leg.
Himalaya then rolls onto his side and gently stretches out a paw, inviting the boy to play.
The child also playfully grabs the dog’s paw, crawls around him and even rests his head on his friend’s soft neck.
Watching this dance between the two is simply indescribably beautiful. It is an affectionate approach, coming together and sniffing each other.
Dogs are not man’s best friend for nothing.
