Bre Burger and her wife Amanda already have a number of dogs with special needs in their home.
For eight years, the couple have been adopting dogs that no one else wants and giving them a home where they can finally feel at home forever.
Their latest roommate is called Marv. This little cutie has a set of teeth that would probably make most people run away..

In search of a home
A few months ago, the Burgers discovered Marv on social media. He was in the care of a friend at the time.
„I was worried the whole time about who would end up taking him, as if he already belonged to us – this was the only way to make sure he got the best life he deserved,“
says Bre.
„I was aware of the level of care he would need, and also that most people wouldn’t give it to him.“

So Marv moves into the Burgers‘ house in June 2023 – along with his dentures, which, if you’re honest, you’d be more likely to assign to a vampire than a small dog.
Small, cute vampire
The exact reason for Marv’s unusual teeth is still unknown.
„Marv has a genetic disorder, but we don’t know what it is,“
bre explains.
His mouth is overcrowded with teeth and his lower jaw and tongue are too short. A second row of teeth grows in his lower jaw and the two long, pointed canines in his upper jaw give him the appearance of a vampire.

But Bre and Amanda have already found a way to deal with this.
Marv is given water through a plastic syringe, as his tongue is too short for him to drink on his own.
And the three of them have also found a wonderful arrangement for feeding:
„I sit and support him with towels, tie a bib around him and feed him with a spoon. He always anticipates this with great enthusiasm,“
says Bre.

Feeding is carefully followed by brushing his teeth – because leftover food has a tendency to get stuck in his overcrowded mouth.
But his favorite food of all is mummy’s fingers! He nibbles them with abandon when he’s feeling well.

„It’s just touching that he has the ability to connect with people and make them happy,“
enthuses Bre.
