Some animals are stuck in a shelter forever. This is the case with the dog Bonita, who has been in her kennel for 500 days.
But one day, a man comes along who decides to take the very dog that nobody else wanted.
That’s why only Bonita is an option for this man.
Old dogs are usually difficult to place
It is understandable when young people and families are looking for a younger dog. After all, they want them to live for a long time and romp and play with them.
But older animals are also looking for a loving home!
Ray Kinz went to the local animal shelter with exactly this in mind: he wanted to adopt the oldest dog, who had also been there the longest.
The idea of an elderly dog being stuck there, hoping day after day that someone would take him away, was hard for him to bear.
Bonita had been at the shelter for too long
Kimberly LaRussa, the event coordinator for the Niagara SPCA, introduced Ray to Bonita the dog.
She was already six years old and had been at the shelter for 500 days.
„She came to us as a stray, we don’t know her life story or her background,“ Kimberly told The Dodo.
Numerous visitors passed by her kennel, but no one seemed to be interested in the older dog.
But her day would finally come. Kimberly took Bonita out of the kennel. The dog was very excited, wagged her tail and could hardly be stopped.
It was as if she knew that something good was about to happen ..
Ray and Bonita met for the first time
Ray was certain that he wanted to give Bonita a home. The dog sensed this and could hardly contain her joy.
Finally someone had come for her, just for her!
This man would now give her the unconditional love she so sorely missed.
Ray gave the expectant dog a kiss and their friendship was sealed.
It was not easy for the team at the animal shelter to let their protégé go. Nevertheless, they were overjoyed that there was a happy ending for Bonita after all.
From now on, the dog had a wonderful life with great toys, fun and, above all, lots of love!
