Great Britain, 2017 – It’s hardly surprising that Craig Mcgettrick is completely surprised when he suddenly discovers five puppies in his garden.
Together with a friend, Mcgettrick was cleaning a garden when they came across an old mattress. They had to lift the mattress in order to dispose of it – unaware of what was hidden underneath.
A strange find
Completely unexpectedly, they discovered five small puppies under the mattress.
After Craig found the puppies, he contacted a local animal welfare organization and posted pictures on Facebook, hoping to help find a new home for the puppies.
Just a few hours later, he learned the shocking truth about the puppies – something he hadn’t expected.
„Those were probably the only two possibilities I could think of,“ Mcgettrick reported, continuing: „We thought someone had thrown them out because they knew we were taking out the trash.“
Craig decided to take the five abandoned orphans with him.
Clarification at the last second
After the photos went viral on the internet, they reached a man named Martin Hemmington. He is the founder of the National Fox Welfare Society.
When he saw the pictures, he immediately contacted Craig. But not because he wanted to adopt the cubs.
„We were contacted by a lovely lady called Beccie via our Facebook page.“
What Craig initially thought were puppies were actually five little fox cubs.
Mother misses her children
The local animal welfare organization then carefully dropped them back off at the spot where Craig had found the fox cubs.
After a short time, they spotted a fox approaching the cubs. Their mother had finally got her missing little fox cubs back.
„Foxes leave their cubs in the den all the time, and the older they get, the more they explore their surroundings and become less and less dependent on their mother,“ the animal welfare activists explained.
It’s great that this wonderful story has found a happy ending .
