On an ordinary day, Rider Soares and his wife decided to take a day trip to Nioaque, a town in Brazil.
Here they stopped at a local family business for a bite to eat and to stretch their legs.
That was the moment that would change their lives almost forever.
Rider and the vending machine
Rider discovered a grabbing machine – nothing unusual so far.
„Whenever I see a grab machine, I have to play with it,“
rider told The Dodo.
So he threw some coins into the machine and got ready. His eyes were fixed on a fluffy stuffed elephant.
Meanwhile, his wife captured his efforts on video – and Rider actually managed to catch the elephant he had chosen.
But that wasn’t all he won that day ..
A cute surprise awaits
Apparently, an orange tabby kitty cat had chosen the stuffed elephant as a temporary sleeping place.
And when Rider got hold of the elephant, the cat was of course woken up – which neither Rider nor his wife noticed at first.
„We couldn’t stop laughing afterwards.
We love animals and when we saw the cat, I had to take him in my arms and cuddle him – he was so cute!“
said a completely thrilled Rider in his further story about The Dodo.
Unfortunately, Rider was not allowed to take this prize home with him. Because the cat is a family member of the company that owns the automatic grabber.
Velvet paw is loved by everyone
Nyandra Costa, who works in the family business, can confirm that everyone always takes good care of the cat.
She was also able to confirm that it is normal for him to disappear into the reach-in vending machine for his afternoon nap.
His name is Garfield, by the way – and even though Rider wasn’t allowed to take him home, he was the highlight of his day, which he also noted to The Dodo:
„He’s the best ‚prize‘ I’ve ever gotten in a clutch machine. Who would have expected to find a real stuffed animal here?“
