In the midst of an everyday birdwatching expedition near his home in the Philippines, amateur photographer Kevin Pearce witnesses an astonishing natural spectacle.
An impressive flock of crows, also known as „murders“, majestically soars through the sky.
Unlike usual, this flock consists of no fewer than 30 birds – an unusually large gathering for this area.
But that’s not the most unusual thing about this sight.
A mysterious guest: the flying fox joining the crows

It’s not just the size of the flock that makes the scene so special, but above all an unexpected companion in its midst: a flying fox.
This winged mammal shares the sky with the crows, although the two species normally have nothing to do with each other.

The exact origin of the flying fox in this unusual company remains a mystery.
„I was very surprised. It was completely unexpected to see them together,“
pearce explains, and continues:
„I’ve never heard of crows and fruit bats pairing up in this way before.“

Pearce suspects that the flying fox took to the skies at the same time as the crows.
But despite this strange grouping, something strange is happening:
The crows seem to accept the flying fox completely. They do not attack it and let it fly peacefully in their midst.
„He seemed to be one of them. The crows did not attack the flying fox,“
reports Pearce.
A fleeting moment: the mysterious disappearance of the unusual community

This spooky encounter in the sky only lasts a moment, but for Pearce it becomes an unforgettable experience.
The crows and the flying fox disappear as quickly as they arrived, leaving only these photographs as evidence of this extraordinary meeting.
Despite the mystery surrounding this unusual encounter, one thing remains certain:
Nature is full of surprises and unexpected alliances that can amaze even seasoned observers like Pearce.
