Horses are large, stately animals that have had an important influence on the development of mankind. Without them, we would hardly be what we are today.
Peabody, however, is quite small. At half a metre tall, he is barely the size of a bulldog – in other words, tiny for a horse.
Breeder wants to put Peabody down
Peabody was born on a breeding farm. As tiny horses like him don’t have much chance of survival, the breeder wants to put the foal down.
However, a woman who overheard this intervenes and adopts Peabody to save his life. She takes him with her and introduces him to her family and their dogs.
Peabody finds a home with this family. Apparently he doesn’t even know he’s a horse and thinks he’s a dog. He plays and makes friends with his dog siblings.
Due to his small size, Peabody’s legs are crooked and his teeth are misaligned. He is given special shoes so that he can walk reasonably well.
A short but full life
Peabody didn’t live very long. Unfortunately, he has already died. But his zest for life still resonates through the family’s life today.
He was part of the family and was loved. They miss Peabody and think back on him with love. He will not be forgotten.
