Airport incidents are usually quite annoying because they usually mean delays and missing your flight.
On this day, however, the passengers waiting at Gate F80 at Tampa International Airport in Florida couldn’t care less whether they get their flight.
Suddenly, they witness the most wonderful moment on earth.
Ellie becomes a mother
Pregnant golden retriever Eleanor Rigby, known as Ellie for short, is due to take a flight today with her owner Diane and her dog husband Golden Nugget.
But when the contractions come, they come. And in this case, they come while Ellie is sitting with Diane and Golden Nugget in the waiting room at gate F80.
Suddenly it starts. It takes Diane and the other people seconds to understand what’s happening.
Then the team from the Tampa Fire Rescue Department rushes over with a blanket and towels, while the waiting passengers film the unique moment or simply watch with huge eyes.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 – how many more little puppies are coming?
Ellie struggles for hours to bring her little ones into the world. Golden Nugget and the humans can’t help much, they can only receive the babies.
But Ellie does a good job. Soon five cute little Golden Retriever puppies have found their way into the world.
But there is still more to come. A sixth puppy arrives, then a seventh. So far they are all boys.
Then there’s a surprise: an eighth puppy arrives, and it’s a girl!
Natalie and her siblings
The little straggler gets the name Natalie – named after the paramedic who attended the birth.
Her brothers will be given names of the male Tampa Fire Rescue Department team members who formed a protective circle around the mom-to-be and her babies during the birth.
Everyone is alive and well. Ellie is exhausted but very happy, just like Golden Nugget, her owner Diane and everyone who was able to witness this unexpected event.
Ellie and her family can no longer take the flight, as it is not permitted to take such young puppies on board.
So Diane and her dog family set off in the car. It takes longer, but the cute dogs make the journey more than bearable.
