Two unusual residents are spotted in a suburban garden in Bexleyheath, England. Between two brick walls, young animals snuggle together and keep each other warm.
On closer inspection, they are foxes. But they are still far too young to manage on their own. A concerned local resident realizes this when he sees them peeking out of a hiding place.
Orphaned fox cubs

The Fox Project comes to the rescue. Normally, the rescuers try to leave baby animals with their mothers. But in this case, the Fox Project staff quickly realize that the little foxes no longer have parents.
They would not survive long on their own in this harsh world. They need a place where they can grow up protected, at least for a while.

„It was obvious that [their mother] had been gone for a while and they needed help,“
explains the Fox Project.
Safe at last

The Fox Project also cares for other orphaned fox cubs. In the care of the experts, the cubs are given shelter, food and water.
Their general condition quickly improves and they make friends with other fox cubs. They romp around together and gain important experience for their future.
While the siblings make friends with the other foxes, they are rather skeptical of humans. And that’s a good thing.
Because the aim is to release the foxes back into the wild. Of course, this is only possible if they are ready for a life on their own paws.

„When the time is right, they are released into the wild as a family and observed from a distance until they decide to move on alone,“
explains the Fox Project.
„Until then, our keepers will look after them and all our other wonderful puppies!„
This has completely changed the fate of the little foxes. The timid, cuddly little animals have become courageous, independent young foxes.
If they continue to develop like this, it certainly won’t be long before they can lead their own lives in freedom.
